Growing up athletic, I was surrounded by young people with dreams of being able to make a career of their sport, or have their sport enable their careers. By the time I was an Athletic Coordinator of Dawson College in 2006, I was finally in a position to help during what was a fortuitous year for sports in Montreal. Dawson elite athletes not only had dreams of the NCAA, they were in positions to accept scholarships. Our Athletics department was receiving hundreds of calls from NCAA coaches for Women’s Hockey Gold Medal Olympian Marie-Philippe Poulin, Men’s Basketball Canadian College Athletic Associate National Champion and 2007 Male Athlete of the Year Adrian Hynes-Guerry and Women’s Basketball Junior Team Canada point-guard Carolann Cloutier. Few people in Quebec, however, understood the intricacies of the NCAA academic requirements, and I took on the charge of ensuring that each athlete’s academic dossier was complete.
Later, as an academic advisor, I developed the expertise in the Canadian education system and American university application process to help hundreds of athletes from soccer, rowing, swimming, basketball, water polo, track & field, baseball and hockey. Elite athletes from across the province started contacting me for guidance with the NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA & USport process. The demand increased and thus I created Montreal Academic Consultants in 2010.
Over the years, the number of athlete families requesting guidance continued to grow and our name was circulating across the border. NCAA institutions started contacting us for information about the Quebec education system and requesting the inside scoop on the up-and-coming athletic talent in Quebec. Thus, Recruit Quebec was created in 2018 as a scouting platform for men’s and women’s basketball.
As requests from across Canada started to increase, we rebranded and reorganized, taking a more holistic approach to educating student athletes and their families on how to capitalize on sports related educational opportunities. We are Athlete Recruiting Centre.
P.S.: The men’s basketball scouting service has remained under the name Recruit Quebec and is now operating as a separate identity.
